NRL vs AFL Grand Final Album of the Week

Wow it's Grand Final time, AFL Saturday with our feature stars The Killers and Sunday the NRL Grand Final with Macklemore. Macklemore making all the news playing the gay anthem Same Love (how the hell will that go down with far North Queensland fans) and kicking the Cowboys out of their last training session.

Who will have the biggest performance of the weekend? Time will tell, but don't forget I will have a special Long Weekend Feature album in place of a Sunday Spotlight. Come Tuesday I will have another feature record for y'all.

Right now though let's give the Killers a break and check out some of Macklemore's solo chart topping hits ahead of his Grand Final performance.

Sunday Spotlight: Cut Copy

The four piece from Melbourne have making us dance since 2001 and on Friday released album number five.

The group released their debut album Bright Like Neon Love in 2004 but it was their second record In Ghost Colours that brought them front and centre as well as ARIA and J Award nominated.

Hearts on Fire was a massive single with Lights & Music and Faraway following. The band grew a huge following and reputation for putting on a sensational live show.

Cut Copy have continued to grow their fan base and tour across the world which is why on Sunday it's time to dance with these Aussie legends. Thanks for the live music memories Dan, Tim, Mitchell and Ben.

Out on the Shelves... Tomorrow

British India are back, touring and releasing a new album tomorrow.

This Sunday I will be spotlighting Cut Copy, another outstanding Australian band from my youth.

The Killers have made a massive comeback with The Man, let's see if the entire album is as magic as the lead single.

Macklemore will be playing the NRL grand final and his album ironically drops tomorrow. No Ryan Lewis this time, just Macklemore.

Jordan Rakei has worked with some amazing talents recently, let's check out his new album landing tomorrow.

Sunday Spotlight: Angus & Julia Stone

Hailing from Sydney duo Angus & Julia Stone released their fourth studio record, Snow on Friday. I remember back to 2006 hearing their amazing Paper Aeroplane single and ten years on I still love the multi award winning duo.

Their latest album Snow features the the lovely recent single Chateau as well as the title track.

Back in 2010 Angus & Julia Stone achieved the number one song in the Hottest 100 with Big Jet Plane and the song became an international hit.

Both Angus and Julia have had successful solo careers and Angus has been known as Dope Lemon and Lady of the Sunshine. Julia has had two solo albums and featured recently on Jarryd James beautiful song Regardless.

IT's time to chill on Sunday, Angus and Julia style.

Sunday Spotlight: Odesza

Hailing from one of my favourites cities in the USA, Seattle, Odesza are bringing us some sweet Sunday tunes. Smooth, electronic and full of guests is a way to describe their third record, A Moment Apart.

Three albums deep and a load of awesome remixes in the bag like Sia, ZHU & Hayden James, duo Odesza are slaying it right now.

Let's take a chance to chill and get to know the delightful Seattle duo.

Ariana Grande - The Meet & Greet

Oh Shit! I have gone on and on about the World needing pop music more than ever and Ariana Grande more than delivers, she slays.

At 24 years old from Florida the pint sized diva is a true star, three albums into her career and multiple hits, Grande is a sensational modern day artist.

Side to Side has had over a billion YouTube views, no not a million a BILLION, 113 million Instagram followers but more important than social media after meeting the star at Sydney's ICC last night, she is beautiful both inside and out. Such a delight.

Is her music my favourite thing in the world or is she my favourite recording artist? No, but when an artist unites around 9,000 people and brings such joy like last night and most likely tonight (I won't be there) she is a complete tour de force.

Grande on a personal level however has been dating one of my favourite artists from last year Mr Mac Miller.

I have been to a LOT of concerts before but never experienced a meet and greet. This was great but as far as concerts go Ariana was close to perfection. Her set list was tight her renditions of One Last Time and Over the Rainbow were so heartfelt I was also broke to tears. Her handling of the tragedy that was her Manchester concert is a credit to this mature, professional performer.

Her hits like Be Alright (the first cab of the rank after a delightful ten minute countdown featuring Mr Mac Miller and the queen Beyonce) and Side to Side were outstanding.

Bang Bang, Break Free, Into You, Greedy & Focus had the crowd eating out of her hands. This will go down in the books for a truly spectacular show in my books.

Thank you Ariana, sensational the world needs truly delightful humans like yourself, what a pleasure it was to be entertained by a true professional with a voice of an angel.

Sunday Spotlight: Yeo

Yeo outta Melbourne is a true blue Aussie legend producing smooth hits for this Sunday's Father's Day edition of the Sunday Spotlight. No Yeo is no dad but it is Father's Day in Australia and it's time to feature an outstanding Australian artist who has been releasing great pop music for years now.

I first discovered Yeo on Triple J with a ditty called Icarus and my love for his smooth vocals followed.

After a couple of records and singles and Triple J appearances for Like a Version, the touring legend has just released his album Desire Path.

Packed with loads of guests including the equally sensational Asta, Fractures and Kira Puru. Let's take some time to discover Yeo and a musician for our time. Keep up the good work mate!
