His new EP is My Dear Melancholy and it came from nowhere for a Global Easter release.

Tomorrow we will have another local EP I really wanted to feature ahead of Australiana month, however for now on your Good Friday, you can stream all six cuts below from the new Weeknd EP, check it out!

EP Feature Week 2018: WAFIA {VIII}

Wafia is an outstanding vocalist, no questions asked, she hails from Brisbane and completely slays on all her tracks. On her second solo (she doubled with Ta-ku on the (m)edian EP) Wafia has delivered some brilliant music, lyrically and her production is always spot on.

I have included a video of Wafia talking about the story behind Bodies, it's powerful, it's moving, it makes me love Wafia even more.

Sunday Spotlight: Jack White

On Friday Jack White released his third solo record, not to mention six albums with the White Stripes, two albums with The Raconteurs and three albums with The Dead Weather.

Jack White has been a musical legend for decades (yes decades) now. The White Stripes were huge even before the world discovered Seven Nation Army. I remember hearing Hotel Yorba for the first time and instantly loving that classic White Stripes sound.

So today let the music, the side projects and even an collaboration with Beyonce speak for Jack White's diverse and epic career to date.

Hold up, it's the last Sunday Spotlight for a week or so with the incoming Easter break. See you tomorrow for some new sounds from Diplo.

Let's go to The Movies & Sing! Feature Week - {50 Shades Film Series}

Last night we dipped into the trashy Twilight series, and their is a connection to today's trashy trilogy, Fifty Shades started out as erotic fan fiction to the Twilight series.

50 Shades was a Valentine's Day film event series and big business for soundtracks and musical careers for the likes of Ellie Goulding.

The trilogy concluded recently and the third and final film is still in selected cinemas however let's start at the beginning with film one, the original Fifty Shades of Grey.

Ellie Goulding, Sia, Beyonce, The Weeknd are just a few huge names for the first soundtrack. It might have got bad reviews for the film, however the soundtrack, top notch!

Fifty Shades Darker turned it up a notch, Taylor (Swift) and Zayn (1D) joined forces, Halsey, John Legend, Nicki Minaj and Joe Jonas hooked up and Sia returned for the spellbinding track, Helium.

Finally on Fifty Shades Freed we saw Sia hit the trifecta with Deer in Headlights, it wasn't her best soundtrack song, but she sets high standards. Liam Payne and Rita Ora (also starring in the series) teamed up for the lead track, Bishop Briggs took on INXS and Ellie Goulding's smash got a reworking.

So where will we land tomorrow? Time will tell, see you then and don't forget the hottest 20 songs of the week Friday on the Fresh Friday Countdown and Sunday, a Sunday Spotlight on Mr Jack White.

Let's go to The Movies & Sing! Feature Week - {Twilight Film Series}

In 2008 we got the trashy Vampire, poor mans True Blood, Twilight. But it did one good thing, gave us some hit music. The first soundtrack saw Muse, Linkin Park, The Black Ghosts and more deliver some massive hits. Who could forget Muse though and Supermassive Black Hole. What a hit.

New Moon however was when Twilight got it's groove on (musically) and gave us hits from Lykke Li, Band of Skulls, Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, Thom Yorke and a load more..

Eclipse was next up with Muse again, Sia got her soundtrack groove on (more from her later in the week, no doubt), The Black Keys, Florence and The Machine and so many more...

Breaking Dawn was the final movie, broken in two parts so we got two soundtracks and here are the highlights, tomorrow another movie series that may have been hated by the critics, loved by Jamie Dornan fans. You know where I am going right? To the Red Room.

Sunday Spotlight: The Broods Family Tree

For the first time, I have decided to feature a family of artists, not just a group, duo or solo artists but the famous Nott family. Hailing from Nelson, New Zealand (across the ditch from Australia) the Nott family is one talented bunch and best known for Georgia & Caleb, AKA Broods.

Two years ago I featured their brilliant second record Conscious, spawning hits like Free, Heartlines and Couldn't Believe. Keeping brilliant producer Joel Little close the duo released an album of anthems.

Recently for International Women's Day Georgia joined forces with some uber talented ladies for The Venus Project Volume One.

Days before their younger sister joined Aussie duo Flight Facilities for a delightful dance floor smash. The family apparently the four children and parents performed as an ABBA tribute band, Mamma Mia!

Georgia in her Uni days performed with a group The Peasants before joining Caleb for Broods.

Broods hit music including the debut single Bridges has featured on a number of hit US shows including Revenge and Reign.

I can't see a better duo to chill with on a Sunday as well as some sweet tunes from their other projects and now famous sister Nika.

See you for a week at the movies next week...

Out on the Shelves... NOW! - Digital Single Edition

Not a big day for album releases yesterday, although another big soundtrack finally hit the shelves, Love, Simon. We have already heard from Khalid & Normani with Loves Lies, now Amy Shark (yes Australian Amy Shark, of Adore and Weekends fame) has got a new track, it's called Sink In.

Next up is Kota Banks with her follow up to Holiday, it's called Zoom.

From NLV records to an artist former Triple J legend Nina Las Vegas may have used to spin on House Party (tonight from 6pm by the way with new legend KLP) it's Courtney Barnett and her latest track, Need A Little Time.

Speaking of Nina Las Vegas, her is her mate Anna Lunoe and her latest club banger, Blaze Of Glory.

Snakehips are back, the duo out of the UK team up with St Rulez for Cruizin’. Following working with Anne-Marie and Joey Bada$$, MO, Zayn, Anderson Paak and a cast of other talents, we continue to wait for a full length record.

Sunday Spotlight: Ocean Alley

Sydney six piece released the follow up to their debut Lost Tropics on Friday. They caught radio's attention with The Comedown and their recent single Confident has been a huge hit.

Chilled good time vides are in order when you whack on some Ocean Alley and they make today's perfect Sunday Spotlight.

I have had Confident on replay lately, it's highly addictive and super chill. I am so happy this group now join fellow Northern Beaches powerhouse Angus & Julia Stone as musical champions on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Sunday Spotlight: Sarah Blasko

I remember hearing Sarah Blasko for the first time in 2004, I never thought in 2018 Sarah would still be at the top of her game and the Australian music scene.

Late February this year, Sarah released her sixth album, Depth of Field. Sarah has given us sing a long gems for over a decade now and it's so exciting to have Sarah for the first Sunday Spotlight of 2018.

Not only solo but in Seeker Lover Keeper Sarah also delivers a sublime live performance. I have been lucky enough to catch her live over the years as well as be a Sarah nerd and even have a dance to her track Hold on My Heart when Sydney duo The Presets gave it a wee remix.

Sarah Blasko the perfect come down to a 40th Mardi Gras. Happy Sunday readers..

Album of the Year Nomination #1 - Vance Joy - Nation of Two

I can't believe it's March 2018 already, so we better get our skates on and start the race for the Album of 2018. First up well done to Mr Vance Joy.

Sold out in Sydney, with a few more spare tickets in Melbourne, Vance Joy (along with Cub Sport and Didirri) will take Nation of Two on the road.

The album campaign started back in July last year, Lay it on Me become a huge hit. It has gone platinum in Australia and gold in Canada. It clocked in the end of year charts at number 90 and Triple J's Hottest 100 at number 9.

The song was instantly a fan favourite, we waited until November for the second sample of the album and it came in the form of Like Gold.

Mid January 2018 we saw maybe Vance's biggest song to date (aside from Riptide) land, We're Going Home.

The song gained loads of radio play and became an instant fan favourite.

So it's with great joy (bad pun) Vance Joy starts the race for the Album of 2018. Not only the feature album this week but a great Australian album to start the year off.
