Sunday Spotlight: Kate Miller-Heidke

*** Later post due to Eurovision, SPOILER ALERT

Born in Brisbane, Kate Miller-Heidke is an Australian legend! Since 2004 Kate Miller-Heidke has given us beautiful music whilst also being a queen of the stage with appearances in everything from Jerry Springer: The Opera to The Rabbits, a new Australian work.

Her debut album was released in 2007, Little Eve gave us Words, Make it Last and a re-release of Space They Cannot Touch. A simply beautiful track, Space They Cannot Touch could almost be a wedding song if ever I wanted to marry.

Curiouser was a departure from her earlier work, giving us a more pop sound, however the 3rd single The Last Day on Earth turned into a monster smash. Making it to number 3 on the charts and selling over 210,000 copies, this was Kate's biggest track to date.

Nightflight didn't have the same success as the second record whilst O Vertigo! had Kate bring some friends along for the ride, including Drapht the rapper of all people.

Recently after writing some original songs for the Muriel's Wedding musical, appearing at Eurovision, Kate is on the up and up, not just in the recording world, but live performances and behind the scenes work.

So here is the spoiler, Kate did Australia proud by making the top 10, coming in at number 9 with 285 points.

So for the third post of this big Sunday, it's a big Australia loves you Kate, thus far our best contender for Eurovision, bring on Eurovision 2020!

Online/Streaming... NOW! - EP Feature Week Edition

After the devastating news last night in Australia, I forgot to post my weekly wrap up of new releases! This has been a special week, EP feature week! We have had an election, I am watching the Eurovision results come in as I type, it's been huge. First up three more EP's to join our feature week!

First up it's The Beaches with their new EP, The Professional, another post will feature our next star
Duckwrth and his The Falling Man EP. Unfortunately the EP does not feature the wonderful Unstatus Quo, apparently this was featured on a promotional video for Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Not the international police, let's call up Interpol for their latest EP, A Fine Mess. A final EP for this very fine EP feature week.

Now onto my (Mini) Sunday Profile act, Crooked Colours with Langata. A fun dance release which came after a number of lead in singles. Go over to my other blog to stream the album and check out more Crooked Colours.

DJ Khaled is back, he has so many guests on board for album number 11, yes 11! SZA, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Jay Z, Nas and so many more on Father Of Asahd.

Alex Lahey is next week's feature CD, it's been this week's on Triple J, look out next week for more The Best Of Luck Club.

The National is back with a another moody album, I Am Easy To Find is streaming now.

Tyler, The Creator has delivered another big, hyped album, Igor. It was a high profile release, stream it for yourself now!

Leading out the new singles this week, Bag Raiders teaming up with Mickey Kojak for Wild At Heart.

Fluir delivers another floor filler with Higher Ground, perfect for the weekend! YASS!

Hatchie continues to promote her debut album, this time we are Obsessed. Go Hatchie.

Washington continues to plug away, with Dirty Churches. Will she appear on this season of The Voice? Who cares.

Last but not least, WAAX follow up FU with a less rude track, it's I Am. I expect big things from this group.

EP of the Week - DUCKWRTH - {The Falling Man}

Sunday Spotlight: Mac DeMarco

On Mother's Day 2019 there could be only one artist we could feature, it's Mac DeMarco. Famously touring Australia's Laneway festival in 2015 with his mother, Agnes.

From one of the best malls in North America I have ever been to, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Mac DeMarco has got quite the following here in Australia. Other than both being in the Commonwealth (welcoming another royal baby this week) Australia and Canada are geographically on the other side of the planet. However in 2019 with streaming services, play lists and the internet, music travels the globe faster than ever.

Mac DeMarco released his sixth album on Friday, Here Comes The Cowboy. It feels like only yesterday his fifth studio album This Old Dog was all over the radio.

So without much more text, let's just jump into some of his biggest hits whilst streaming his two latest albums below.

Cheers Mac DeMarco, you are a legend and a truly cool son. Cheers to Agnes DeMarco too, as well as all the legendary Mother's out there, it's your day go out and enjoy it, whilst Mac provides the ultimate soundtrack!

Online/Streaming... Tomorrow, This Week's Key Releases

We start off this week with a brand new track from Blink 182, yes Blink 182! Apparently returning to their roots, this is classic Blink 182. So excited to key off this weeks releases with some 90's throwback vibes on Throwback Thursday!

Album wise, triple threat Ciara has levelled up with album number seven, it's Beauty Marks and features guests like Macklemore and Kelly Rowland.

Mac DeMarco is back to his chilled best with Here Comes The Cowboy. He will be this Sunday's Spotlight, hooray for Sunday chill vibes.

Eskimo Joe have released a special Deluxe Edition of their hit record, Black Fingernails Red Wine. This really takes me back. Loved this album so much back in the days, really is becoming the Throwback Thursday edition of Key Releases.

The Get Up Kids have released their first album since 2011, it's simply called Problems.

The Rubens are killing it right now, so to cash in on this success, they are giving us MTV Unplugged : Live In Melbourne.

A few BIG local EP's this week to focus on, firstly from Annie Bass it's Control and secondly, young legend Kian has got his Bliss EP landing tomorrow.

Single wise, Sunday's (Mini) profile on my other blog is the outstanding Hein Cooper. His latest track is Hijack. It lands tomorrow, in the meantime this is his track from last month, Like That.

Whilst Kiwi star Bene is back with her third track, it's Evil Spider.

Kira Puru is sassy and I love it! Fall in love with Everything Is Better Without You right now!

Last up this week, it's Tom Zanetti, he makes some damn fine dance music, this time he has recruited Jaykae with Wicked And Bad!

Sunday Spotlight: Kim Churchill

Bon in Canberra and then moving to NSW Kim Churchill is today's Sunday Spotlight. At age 28 Kim has released six albums and on Friday his second EP. His second EP is I Am.

In 2010 Kim started off his career with two records, the next came in 2012, followed by 2013, 2014 and his sixth and latest album in 2017. Signed to Canadian record label Indica Kim toured Canada in 2012 and also scored a support slot with Billy Bragg.

Kim also had a French moment (and no not the French Canadians) The Avener (Fade out Lines) remixed a track of his, You're My Window to the Sky charting in France.

Not only with a growing following in his native Australia, Canada and now France Kim Churchill is still under 30 and kicking a pile of goals musically.

Born in 1990 (as an 80's baby that sounds young) Kim Churchill has loads more to offer his fans, let's take a listen to what we have heard from Kim thus far.

Online/Streaming... Tomorrow, This Week's Key Releases

Bad Religion are about to release their 17th album, YES 17th album. Check out a cut from Age Of Unreason right now before the whole thing lands tomorrow.

Remember when Crazy P were called Crazy Penis? They were super cool and now they are about to release their eighth studio album, Age Of The Ego is out in one sleeps time.

Little May scored the Double J album of the week for their birthday week. The group hails from Sydney and it's called Blame My Body. It lands on all streaming services from tomorrow morning, give it a listen.

Paul Mac is a dance music legend, he has worked with everyone from Tex Perkins to Daniel Johns, Peta Morris to remixing Sia. His latest record is Mesmerism, and it's out tomorrow, so dust off those dancing shoes ladies and gentlemen.

Next week's feature album is.... Vampire Weekend and their latest, Father Of The Bride. You'll get a swag load of features from the album, all next week!

A couple of local EP's to start off the singles and EP's this week. First up it's Birdz with Place Of Dreams.

Second up it's Kim Churchill with the I Am EP, both will be streaming tomorrow morning.

Pnau are back and it's Solid Gold baby! Oh wait Baby was also a Pnau single back in the day. The new track is simply Solid Gold.

Record breaker and friend of Kanye West, Ruel is back on the scene with Painkiller.

This excited me midweek when it was apparent BANKS had a new single, Gimme is a taste of her incoming new record. Apparently BANKS has piles of new songs so it's a matter of picking the best to be on her follow up to The Alter. A brilliant, dark pop record.
