(Pre) Friday Flash(back)

John Charles Wiltshire-Butler AKA John Butler, is an American-Australian singer, songwriter, and music producer.

John is best known for his time as the eponymous frontman of the John Butler Trio, a roots rock and jam rock band that formed in Perth Fremantle, Western Australia in 1998.

The John Butler Trio recorded five studio albums, including three that reached number one on the Australian charts: Sunrise Over Sea, Grand National and April Uprising.

Butler was born in the United States and moved to Australia at an early age. He began playing the guitar at the age of sixteen.

In 2002, Butler, along with several partners, formed their own record label Jarrah. He is also the co-founder of The JB Seed, a grant program that seeks to improve artistic diversity in Australia.

Recently released PRISM, is the third entry in the WA-based artist's ongoing Four Seasons album concept, which began with last year's ambient ode to healing, Running River, and instrumental reset Still Searching.

With the release of PRISM, John has a celebrated career spanning over three decades, Butler's latest album is a humble reminder that there's always horizons to expand and mistakes to be learned from.

As environmentally and politically active as ever, Butler's principles are still at the core of his music.

Butler's wife of 25 years Danielle Caruana, professionally known as Mama Kin, serves as the muse behind PRISM's most obvious singles.

Butler is about to hit the road, so for all the tour dates, click here.

A few more weeks of the Friday Flash(back), before the 2025 season finale.
