Sunday Spotlight: Flume

In the last week and a bit Flume has slayed in the new music department. He released his first mixtape, Hi This Is Flume and now a new single featuring the vocals of Reo Cragun.

Who is Reo Cragun? Well he is an upcoming artist from the US of A and an interesting choice for Flume to feature on maybe single number one from album number three.

Flume has had huge hits over the years, his debut single Sleepless is still in my memory from his early Triple J Unearthed days.

In 2016 he had the biggest single and album with Never Be Like You and Skin respectively.

Skin was a remarkable album with great guests and a great tour to boot. Today is a perfect day to feature one of Sydney's best artists of all time. Yes big call but Flume is huge!

I am dying to hear what Flume has installed for us and the remainder of 2019. Let's take a listen to Flume's greatest works to date.

Sunday Spotlight: Weezer

Weezer have just released their 13th studio album, two of which were released this year! I cannot of the top of my head think of another group/artist who has already released two albums in 2019. I know this week's feature stars Foals will release Part 2 of their feature album later in the year.

Weezer have been killing it since 1994, in the mid 90's they gave us hot tracks like Buddy Holly, El Scorcho and Say it Ain't So.

Hailing from LA Weezer have a covers album (Teal) and originals album (Black) now streaming out there for all to enjoy. I have added them to this post below so you can easily get a nice tasty slab of Weezer for your Sunday right NOW!

Below are some of the most fun Weezer tracks from the mid 90's until now.

Since Weezer have moved through Blue, Green, Red, White, Teal and Black albums, what colour will the boys think of next?

So there is no need to talk more about this awesome four piece from stateside. It's Sunday let's get Indie, it's Weezer time.

Until next week...

Sunday Spotlight: Solange

Solange is a true superstar, four albums in her most recent When I Get Home was a wee surprise release on March 1st. Solange provides not only sensational vocals but amazing videos to match her tracks. I have on display today her two latest records and some of her (to date) video highlights.

It's Sunday and it's time to celebrate our second Sunday Spotlight for 2019. If you missed last week, I featured the fantastic James Blake, he scored a feature album on Double J, now so has Solange.

Her sister is a global superstar, but Solange has always done it her own way. She has released some killer singles over the years, Losing You was honestly one of the biggest break up anthems of 2012. She has worked with everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Q-Tip, Lil Wayne to Janelle Monáe.

I was so excited when this record landed at the beginning of this month, next week it'll be a totally different turn for the Sunday Spotlight, we will shine the spotlight on Weezer.

So kick back, read the Sunday papers with some sassy Solange in the background, she is a true queen.

Album of the Year Nomination #1 - The Hilltop Hoods - The Great Expanse

It's offical, the first Album of the Year for 2019 is here, it's THE HILLTOP HOODS with THE GREAT EXPANSE.

Released on February 22nd, 2019, the album has already gone to number one in Australia, making it the bands sixth album to reach the top of the Australian Album charts.

Exit Sign the latest single featuring Illy and Ecca Vandal is already a radio smash and a serious contender for this years Top 200 tracks of the year.

Sunday Spotlight: James Blake

Hello there, it's the first Sunday Profile for 2019, welcome!

A chilled international start for 2019 with James Blake. This record was a feature back at the end of January/early February on Double J and it was exciting change of direction for Blake's fourth studio record.

We've come a long way since James Blake's self titled debut album in 2011, his album Assume Form, released Jan 18, 2019 has been called a hip hop/urban masterpiece.

James smooth vocals, array of guests and efforts on the Black Panther soundtrack guests spots on tracks from Travis Scott, Jay Z, Andre 300 and more.

James Blake is an exceptional high standard to start this year's Sunday Spotlight's. Concluding last November, the Sunday Spotlight will be a weekly feature, excluding long weekends and the first Sunday of each season.

Next week we will keep it urban and turn the spotlight on the sensational Solange, who surprised us with a new record on Friday. What a huge start to 2019!
