There has been a lot of talk of Pop lately with Beyonce's record Lemonade and the HBO show killing it. The album dashed in at Number One (despite a big effort from Prince fans - single wise he sold a million singles the day after his death) and the singles are killing it on iTunes. Not only that my Fresh Friday Countdown (below).
Along with Beyonce I kicked off Pop week with a brilliant new record yesterday on the Sunday Spotlight from Katy B (like Beyonce, Katy B has worked with some of the hottest taler right now - including Craig David)
Also Drake dropped this:
Friday, originally titled Views from the 6, it is now just known as Views.
Another talent working with amazing folk, to create memorable POP music. And why is pop music important you ask? Because people buy it, they keep the music world turning.
I am all for my imdi favourites but when Beyonce turns the worlds focus to music and good music at that it should be celebrated. Whether it's pop or something obscure, Triple J is doing the right thing by giving Beyonce some well deserved air time.
So this week we will celebrated another record, featured briefly below by Canadian Kaytranada, this album like the above mentioned also features some of the best pop artists right now, AlunaGeorge, Craig David (again - he is getting a lot of work these days), Little Dragon, Vic Mensa and man of the moment Anderson .Paak.
I will feature the best POP music on my other BLOG Randy Andy's Weak in Review too, helping you Move this May. Yes people let's getting moving!
