(Pre) Friday Flash(back)

DUMB is a collaborative album by Australian singer-songwriter Emma Louise & Flume. The album was released late last month.

Upon announcement, Emma Louise said "The title Dumb is loaded with weight for me... At first, naming the album Dumb felt irreverent and freeing, but later I realised how deeply it connected to my own fear of being seen as stupid and unworthy. This album is me reclaiming that word, letting go of shame, and promising myself I'll never abandon my voice again."

Flume and Emma Louise have previously collaborated on the 2022 track Hollow, from Flume's third studio album Palaces.

The lead single Easy Goodbye was released in mid-July.

Shine, Glow, Glisten was released ahead of the album alongside its video, directed by Jonathan Zawada. The third single is Monsoon, with its music video being directed by Jonathan Zawada and Michael Hili.

Both Emma Louise & Flume are Aussie icons. Making them perfect for my Friday Flash(back) weekly feature. Emma Louise burst onto the scene with Jungle, while Flume has given us multiple instant classic singles, even winning a Hottest 100. Flume has worked with countless artists, so a collaborative album feels so right from these two.

I am excited to share the album with you tomorrow, while today having a deeper dive into some of their new work and classics. Of course including Jungle. I've seen Flume live a few times, but need to see Emma Louise live. Bring on my outing to North East Party House next month for their farewell tour.

Speaking of farewells. There are not too many more Friday Flash(back)'s for 2025. However, over the next few weeks, there are some gems! So look out!
