Kate Miller-Heidke delivered a solid second album with Curiouser. Following her divine debut Little Eve.
The first two singles, Can't Shake It and Caught in the Crowd received moderate success, while the third single The Last Day on Earth went on to become her first Australian top ten single, peaking at No. 3 on the ARIA singles chart.
The album went on to become one of the most critically applauded albums of 2008 and is Miller-Heidke's first platinum-selling album.
The Last Day on Earth is still to this day Miller-Heidke's biggest single.
Miller-Heidke explains the album's title: Mickey (Petralia) thought "Curiouser" was a noun, something that made you more curious," she said. "That's what made up my mind about the title. Wouldn't it be great if people listened to this album and it made them curiouser?".
This is one of my favourite records from Best Australian albums of the 80's-NOW! (Part Three - 50-26). It's hard to believe we are almost in the top 40 Best Australian albums of the 80's-NOW!
Next month some of the final 40 albums will be featured on this blog. Until tomorrow, the 301st Fresh Friday Countdown! See you then!
