Sunday Spotlight: Little Dragon

Released in and around Easter Little Dragon from Sweden gave us their fifth studio record Season High.

2017 has been a funny year for music, Drake has reigned supreme with a playlist, Ed Sheeran has been way too dominate in the charts, Adele is clearly one of the biggest recoding artists ever and Kendrick Lamar really is the king of hip hop, Sorry Kanye.

But Little Dragon have been in the background (guesting on Flume's album of 2017 record, De La Souls comeback album and Kaytranada's stunning debut) working away at album number five. And the result is pretty good.

Single Sweet has been on serve high rotation for walking, gym and leisure music and also found itself on adult Triple J sister station, Double J's playlist recently.

Little Dragon from 2009 - 2011 for me have released some of the best pop music currently floating around and as we farewell Record Store Store Day for another year let's wrap our Sunday ears around some fine pop music!

Easter Album of the (Long) Week(end) - The Facts

54 minutes and 54 seconds of PURE fire is what you will find on Kendrick Lamar's fourth studio record. For full credits and a good JJJ article on the album GO HERE

After the lead single HUMBLE burst onto the scene on March 30, we have been waiting patiently for the full length record from Kendrick, called Album and then finally DAMN.

Kendrick has three major featuring artists on the record including none other than U2 and Rihanna plus Zacari. The album is honestly one of the biggest releases of 2017 so far. Following Drake's big Playlist this is something special and something I am going to enjoy on my iPod for sometime to come.

Humble is already a contender for my song of the year and what I have heard of this album thus far is amazing. My only regret is the promo single The Heart Part 4 is not included on what could be another Kendrick masterpiece.

The albums producers are varied and include and not limited to Mike Will Make It, BadBadNotGood, 9th Wonder, James Blake, Greg Kurstin and more!

So go on be humble this weekend and discover DAMN. it's dope and my album of the long weekend, new album of the week live here on the special time of Tuesday morning.

Sunday Spotlight: Kendrick Lamar

With a new album about to land over the Easter long weekend, Kendrick Lamar is at the top of his game. In 2015 To Pimp a Butterfly was one of my five favourite albums of that year and King Kunta was easily one of my favourite tracks.

In 2012 his rise to fame record good kid, m.A.A.d city gave us incredible jams like Bitch Don't Kill my Vibe and Swimming Pools (Drank). Last year he released 8 unreleased demos which were all killer and no filler.

Untitled Unmastered went on top top the US charts along with the Canadian, Danish and peaked at number 3 here is Australia.

When his new album drops it's gonna be big, HUMBLE. has already been a massive hit around the world in it's short life since it was released on March 30.

It's Sunday, let's get political and some some lyrical genius with the King, Kendrick Lamar.

Sunday Spotlight: Goldfrapp

English electronic duo are back with album number seven and a little bit of a wait since their less record Tales of Us. Unfortunately I didn't love their last record however back in 2010 the 9 track Head First was pure pop bliss and from the first taste (Anymore) of this new record, I have high hopes for Silver Eye.

So it's Sunday and from there mellow beginnings on Felt Mountain to the electro camp fun on Black Cherry & Supernature, lets embrace some Sunday Goldfrapp ahead of another working week.
