Taylor Swift | Folklore

2020 has been a strange year for music, touring and entertainment in general. Taylor Swift continues to break all rules and even break Juice WRLD's recent records for sales/streams in 2020.

So here are the big points.

In the US, Folklore has clocked up 500,000 sales in it's first three days on the shelves.

Streaming wise the album on track to hit the magical one-million sales mark in its first week! Previously done albums 1989, Reputation, and Red. The most ever streams in one week you ask? Adele’s 25, 3,378,000 streams one week!

In Australia, Folklore will almost certainly open at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart this Saturday. Giving TayTay her sixth number one album in Australia following Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017) and Lover (2019).

More streaming figures, it smashed the global record for first-day album streams on Spotify by a female artist with 80.6 million plays, whilst on Apple Music in 24 hours, with 35.47 million plays.

Taylor also has a secret weapon with her physical release too. Yes CD's are still on sale. The Lakes appears only on physical copies!

Taylor not only swears on the record, she has some Bon Iver on the album too! Take a listen now.

Sunday Spotlight: The Streets

Mike Skinner is The Streets. Recently Mike gave us a new mixtape titled None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive, featuring Aussie legends Tame Impala!

Five albums and two mixtapes in, I remember jamming out to Has It Come to This? in 2001. Mike Skinners debut album Original Pirate Material was like nothing out in the music game back in 2001. However it was 2004 when things exploded with the second record A Grand Don't Come for Free.

Featuring the hit single Fit But You Know It and the more emotional Dry Your Eyes.

The Streets sort of vanished for a while but no one can deny the impact he made on the UK garage, 2 step scene in the early 2000's.

So let's reflect this Sunday on a true UK legend Mike Skinner and his musical legacy as The Streets.

Sunday Spotlight: DMA's

Tommy O'Dell, Matt Mason, and Johnny Took from Sydney are the DMA's. Friday we got their third record The Glow and it's a big release!

With five singles already The Glow was originally due for release on April 24th. However like most things during COVID-19, the album was pushed back.

The Sydney trio started giving us audio treats back in 2014. Kicking off with the anthem Delete. Hills End was released in early 2016 giving us hits like Lay Down, Too Soon and In the Moment.

The second release For Now continued to deliver sing-a-long hits like In the Air, For Now and Do I Need You Now.

Not to mention their huge cover of Cher's Believe. The video has received over 8.6 million views on YouTube and has been well received when performed live.

The DMA's are the perfect band to soundtrack your Sunday. So get into The Glow and some previous hits and memories below.

Sunday Spotlight: Jessie Ware

I have recently become OBSESSED with Jessie Ware. Her recent album What's Your Pleasure gave us a number of choice singles ahead of its recent release.

From the dreamy pop of Save a Kiss to the latest Soul Control. This album is a 100% BOP!

It's Jessie's fourth album, however it's her most fun to date. I loved her when Disclosure gave her a remix of Running. Then her debut album for a re-release and gave us the amazing Imagine It Was Us.
The Gold edition of Devotion featured the Disclosure remix as mentioned and this brilliant bonus track.

Her second album Tough Love slowed down a little more, as did her third studio album, Glasshouse. So when What's Your Pleasure gave us all this dance pop, I was like YASS!

Ware provided vocals for Jack Peñate,  SBTRKT, Joker, Katy B and Miguel. Therefore reaching a diverse audience.

Jessie and her mum also work on a hugely successful podcast Table Manners. The guests have been diverse and amazing.

So it's time to get a dose of Jessie Ware for your Sunday! Oh it's great having the Sunday Spotlight back after a June rest.
