Saturday - The Week that was Catch Up - New Music

So like you dear readers I have had a monster week, so here is a recap of some of the best new music floating around the internet, on the radio and scoring massive YouTube views.

Angus & Julia have finally returned and showed the Northern Beaches can dish up chill hits to rival even Jack Johnson. Grab a listen over here. Their new album will be released around August.

La Roux has been releasing hit after hit recently, the new disc "Trouble in Paradise" is due for release 7 July. Uptight downtown is the second taste of the 9 track album. It's an improvement on "Let me Down Gently" and I think this track could be a real hit.

Lana Del Rey is fresh from singing at Kim & Kanye's big day and a ahead of her new album she has dropped "Shades of Cool".

It feels like Lana Del Rey releases new tunes every few weeks, but always nice to have her back on the airwaves.

The Preatures from Sydney are also back on the airwaves:

Megan Washington is fresh from the Voice duties and added Megan to her title. This is her latest "Limitless":

Tomorrow night being the start of Winter I will post the 20 biggest songs of Autumn, Monday the 20 biggest songs of this week.

Mid Week Music News

Robyn & Royksopp have teamed up with clothing store H&M to get their new track out there.

Back to yesterday, how good was that new tune by Bertie Blackman? Speaking of good new music, Basement Jaxx have come back onto the scene with Unicorn and a new album to land in late August, am I excited? Yes I am. It's been a long ride for me and Basement Jaxx, so I am extremely excited to here this new record:

Kimbra has also announced a new record is on the way and I am sure by now you have caught the new tune 90's Music. Unfortunately with her touring partner Janelle Monae a lot of these gigs have been postponed or had a major downsizing in venue size, or both!

The Billboard Awards were on during the week and you can view all the performances and winners right now over HERE

Before Beyonce was a visual artist M.I.A was always all over music video's here is her latest:

Out now at the Record Stores & Online..

Tori Amos is back with "Unrepentant Geraldines" whilst The Black Keys follow up their hugely successful "El Camino" with "Turn Blue". Will this album be as big a hit as the previous record?

Lykke Li is back showing the world school was never her strong point with "I Never Learn". Little Dragon also drop an album title which I ain't going near "Nabuma Rubberband".

With all this music and Jessica Mauboy dropping a new single whilst showing Eurovision who is boss it's been a big week for new releases. And keep an eye out next week for new releases from:

In New Music we Trust

Here are some of the best new releases floating around right now which I have been loving and keeping me away from sharing ace tunes with you, dear readers:

Album of the Year Nomination #2 - Chet Faker - Built on Glass

After my first nomination all the way back in March Pharrell Williams has only continued to impress with his album selling Gold (sales in excess of 35,000 - locally) and his second single Marilyn Monroe becoming a follow up hit too.

So now it's time for nomination number two and the men are really turning it up this year. From an international release to one closer to home, Melbourne superstar and Future Classic artist Chet Faker has released a sublime album Built on Glass.

After his 2012 EP Thinking in Textures and his online cover of "No Diggity" getting him worldwide acclaim it's finally time for his debut album.

After the monster success of the split EP with Flume & "Drop the Game" was an anthem for the youth it's great to see Chet with new and amazing music.

His first single from the album feels like it came out a life time ago, Melt with Kilo Kash and now his latest 1998 is completely blowing my mind.

He also had a chart hit in Talk is Cheap and now the album has also been sitting pretty at number one nationally for two weeks, will it make a third this week? Check back at ARIA at 6:30pm tonight.

So there we have it Chet Faker the second album in the running for Album of the Year for 2014.
