Album of the Year Nomination #5 - Troye Sivan - Something to Give Each Other

The Album of the Year is back on after nomination #4 Scarlet, last month. Something to Give Each Other is the third album by Troye Sivan.

Released earlier this month, it is Sivan's first album release in five years, following Bloom. This record features only one collaboration, from Spanish singer and guitarist Guitarricadelafuente.

The album received universal acclaim from critics. Following the lead single Rush, which topped the charts in Israel and entered the top ten in Ireland, Croatia, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia.

The second single Got Me Started (sampling Aussie legend, Bag Raiders), entered the charts in nine regions including Australia and the UK.

The third single, One of Your Girls, was released concurrently with the album. Along with another FAB visual for the track.

This has become Sivan's most commercially successful album, becoming his first album and second project to top the ARIA chart in Australia, while reaching the top ten in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

Rush like Kylie's Padam Padam have become instant gay club classics! Sivan is on the edge of global domination.

Not to mention that saucy album cover below. Meow!

Something to Give Each Other joins G Flip, Genesis Owusu, Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat. The Album of the Year for 2023 will be announced New Year's Eve! BOOM!

Something to Give Each Other - Guest - Guitarricadelafuente

Álvaro Lafuente Calvo otherwise known as Guitarricadelafuente, is a Spanish singer-songwriter, guitarist and musician based in Zaragoza. He is also the only guest on this week's super fun feature record.

Lafuente started posting covers on different social media platforms like Instagram in 2017 while being unsigned. Those covers attracted a modest number of people at first thanks to their mix of indie folk, rumba, and flamenco music.

In April 2018 he released his first original song titled El Conticinio which he recorded at home with a PlayStation microphone.

Lafuente continued posting original songs and started a little tour through selected cities in Spain. In June 2019 he collaborated with Operación Triunfo contestant and fellow friend Natalia Lacunza on her debut single Nana Triste which peaked at number 4 on the PROMUSICAE chart.

After the single's critical and commercial success, Lafuente continued releasing singles independently.

Guitarricadelafuente is featured on track four, In My Room. Troye Sivan's FABULOUS feature album streams HERE

I Love You - Guest - The Grogans

Genre-expanding outfit The Grogans are the one guest on this week's damn fine debut feature album from Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers.

The trio of best friends from Melbourne who explore nuanced manoeuvres in surf, punk, blues, garage, psych, rockabilly and reggae. Banding together in high school playing backyard gigs and weekly jam nights, seasoned musicians Quin Grunden, Angus Vasic and Jordan Lewis shared their first official release Cacteyed in the summer of ‘16.

The EP’s instantaneous and lasting reception was matched by the band’s playful successor Twangs n’ Cans the following year.

Cutting the ribbon on their debut album Just What You Want, 2019 saw the band perform at Loch Hart Music Festival and sell out multiple venues across Australia. In the year following, The Grogans dropped their self-recorded and mixed magnum opus Day / To / Day resulting in a completely sold out National AU Tour.

Their album 'Which Way Is Out' was released on October 28th 2022.

Check out some choice The Grogans cuts below!
