Sunday Spotlight: Boy & Bear

Dave Hosking, Killian Gavin, Tim Hart, Jon Hart and Dave Symes make up Boy & Bear. The five piece from Sydney released their long awaited fourth album on Friday, it's called Suck on Light.

After a number of tracks were released ahead of it's release Dave Hosking also opened up about his personal health struggle. You can check out the piece HERE.

In 2011 Boy & Bear were on the top of the world winning five ARAIA Awards that year, will they take home any in 2020?

Boy & Bear have some truly amazing originals, not to mention their divine Crowded House cover of Fall at Your feet.

Boy & Bear are just another group who started out on Triple J Unearthed, continuing to prove, this program is so important to Australian music. This assisted the group in getting on the Homebake stage and national radio airplay.

Boy & Bear, it's so great have y'all back on the radio and streaming as below.

Next Sunday it's the NRL grand final and a long weekend, therefore the Sunday Spotlight takes a wee break, it'll be back mid-October. Until then, night..

Album number three for Post Malone and album number four for the Album of the Year of 2019 race. Following The Hilltop Hoods, Billie Eilish and Khalid.

The album even before it's release had a number of hits familiar to Posty fans. Tracks like Sunflower, Goodbyes, wow and Circles were all available for streaming ahead of the September 6th release.

Post Malone has a monster fan base, this album since it's release has already gone straight to number one in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, the USA, the UK and more!

Sunday Spotlight: Tove Lo

Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson otherwise known in the musical world as Tove Lo is today's stunning Sunday Spotlight artist.

On Friday Tove's fourth full length album was released Sunshine Kitty, however a number of the tunes were already familiar after teasing us with singles like Glad His Gone, Jacques (with the amazing Jax Jones), Bad as the Boys with Alma, Really Don't Like U with Australia's own Kylie and
Sweettalk My Heart released alongside the albums release.

Tove has had a number of fantastic hits over the years including Disco Tits, Cool Girl, Stay High and Flume's banger Say It.

Tove has also penned a number of big tunes for a wide range of acts, Nick Jonas, Years and Years, Broods, Lorde, MS MR and more.

Tove's new album is a totally bop, so much fun and to be honest it's gonna be an instant pop classic.

Enjoy it and some of her previous tunes below, it's Sunday it's time to dance!

More Troye, this time LIVE!

Featured twice on this week's amazing feature album Charli by Charli XCX, Troye Sivan dazzled Sydney siders last night at the Hordern Pavilion.

Opening his show with Seventeen and the title track of his latest album and tour Bloom, Troye had a slight technical difficulty early on but powered through a huge set last night.

From Fools, Wild the Lauv assisted I'm So Tired.., Dance to This and Charli XCX mixed medley of 2099/1999, Troye slayed last night.

His encore of Youth and My My My blew the roof off the venue. With the last chorus of My My My being assisted by the Throttle Remix and a full club vibe, Troye is 100% on fire at present.

Such a great show, such a great vibe. Not to mention some of the Climate Strikers clearly just bounced from taking the day off school to the Troye Sivan dance floor.

So much fun, such a great gig, YASS Troye, YASS!

Tones And I | Dance Monkey | The Numbers

Good Morning,

One of Australia's biggest artists Tones And I 's track Dance Monkey is doing huge business right now, like huge. Some would even say record breaking business!

Since being released on May 10th this year, Dance Monkey has just gone from strength to strength.

In Australia the track has officially now sold over 200,000 copies. But in 2019 sales isn't everything, Dance Monkey has also recorded 130 million streams (last month alone) whilst hitting number one in seven countries, including Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Australia.

In Australia and the trusty ARIA Singles Chart, it's been at the top spot now for seven consecutive weeks, a record-equalling mark.

However the song is set to get bigger, Tones will be playing alongside Paul Kelly and Dean Lewis at the AFL grand final. It's like the NRL grand final just more popular.

Can I just go rogue and say now, it's looking like Tones and I for number one in the Hottest 100, or could it be stateside cool kid Billie Eilish, Bad Guy? Both songs have clearly made an impact here and abroad.

Now another big statement The Kids Are Coming EP, the best EP of 2019, hands down. What a release, Never Seen the Rain, Johnny Run Away and the title track, it's all killer and zero filler.

Tones and I is easily going to top end of year music lists, let's get that on the record, not to mention hopefully scoop the ARIA Awards for 2019.

Go Tones!

Sunday Spotlight: Sampha the Great

Scoring the Double J feature record this week, Sunday belongs to the amazing Sampha the Great. Sampha has been building a strong fan base and critical acclaim since 2015 now. The Return may be her debut album, however this follows two stacked mixtapes.

In 2015 we got the Great Mixtape, in 2017 we got the critically acclaimed Birds And The BEE9, not to mention a spilt EP with Estelle HERoes Act 2 in 2017.

Sampha the Great has also worked with Urthboy, Ecca Vandal, Remi, Jonti and more. So it is with great pleasure to finally feature this fine 25 year old.

With a debut album under her belt and some solid tunes before it, let's enjoy our Sunday with the sublime Sampha the Great and discover what all the noise is about.
