Sunday Spotlight: Skeggs

Skegss hail from Australia's new film/celebrity capital, Byron Bay, New South Wales. Joining Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and other famous visitors, Toby Cregan, Jonny Laneway and Ben Reed make up Skeggs.

The trio have released several EPs whilst on Friday they released their second full length release, Rehearsal.

Touring nationwide across Australian as well as international gigs, Skegss have also have had beef with rapper Lil Yachty in the past.

Their debut studio album, My Own Mess, released in 2018, peaked at number 2 on the ARIA Charts as well as being ARIA nominated. Rehearsal has already featured several radio friendly singles like Valhalla and Under the Thunder.

Last year the group re-released 50 Push Ups for a Dollar (originally released in 2015) on vinyl. The vinyl shot up the charts reaching number 4.

The trio followed with a double EP as a vinyl compilation album, Holiday Food/Everyone Is Good at Something, re-released in November 2020.

It's the last Sunday before a few random Easter weeks, so enjoy some fresh new local (very local if you live in NSW like me) sounds.

Sunday Spotlight: Tash Sultana

The Sunday Spotlight is back with your recent Australian number one album by Tash Saltana. Yes Tash went all the way to number one with album number two, Terra Firma.

Tash Sultana, born 15 June 1995, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Described as a "one-person band", Sultana hit the airwaves in 2016 with the amazing single, Jungle. It was lucky enough to come in third place in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2016.

Australian of Maltese ancestry, Sultana was born and grew up in Melbourne. Sultana can play 20 instruments including guitar, bass, trumpet, flute, percussion and saxophone. Sultana is nonbinary and uses the pronoun they.

So this post Mardi Gras Sunday, why not chill with some Tash? The new record is the perfect come down, chill release.

Tash has worked with the likes of Matt Corby, Milky Chance as  Jerome Farah on Willow Tree on the new record below.

Tash scored the feature album a little over a week ago on Triple J. So with the album making it to number one, sitting just in the top 20 this week (it's second week in) as well as a feature on Triple J. This could be a big year for Tash Sultana.

Until next week, discover some more local new music. While speaking of new music (like last week) the key releases will be back on Tuesday again, next week. Live from Wollongong.
