(Pre) Friday Flash(back)
Florence and the Machine (stylised as Florence + the Machine) will be the final Friday Flash(back) for 2025! It has been a blast featuring some incredible artists and albums over two seasons this year.
The English indie rock band formed in London in 2007 by lead vocalist Florence Welch, keyboardist Isabella Summers, guitarist Rob Ackroyd, drummer Christopher Lloyd Hayden and harpist Tom Monger.
What a way to go out on Halloween, with a record titled, Everybody Scream. The album lands tomorrow. back in August, Welch began teasing a potential return through a series of cryptic posts on her social media accounts.
Their sixth studio album, features singles Everybody Scream & One of The Greats. Welch said that the song was originally written as a long poem and then recorded it one take, which she "sang straight from the page".
The band's debut studio album, Lungs, was released in July 2009, and held the number-two position for its first five weeks on the UK Albums Chart.
On 17 January 2010, the album reached the top position, after being on the chart for twenty-eight consecutive weeks.
As of October 2010, the album had been in the top forty in the United Kingdom for sixty-five consecutive weeks, making it one of the best-selling albums of 2009 and 2010. The group's second studio album, Ceremonials, released in October 2011, entered the charts at number one in the UK and number six in the US.
The band's third studio album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, was released on 2 June 2015. It topped the UK charts, and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, their first to do so. The album reached number one in a total of eight countries and the top ten of twenty. Also in 2015, the band was the headlining act at Glastonbury Festival, making Welch the first British female headliner of the 21st century.
The BBC played a part in their rise to prominence by promoting Florence and the Machine as part of BBC Music Introducing. At the 2009 Brit Awards, they received the Critics' Choice Award.
Lungs won the Brit Award for Best British Album in 2010, while Florence and the Machine have been nominated for six Grammy Awards including Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album.
So ahead of Everybody Scream (and Halloween) tomorrow, let's dive into some new and old tunes from one of my favourite Friday Flash(back)'s of 2025. It may be the last, however there is a new season coming in early 2026....

(Pre) Friday Flash(back)
Peter Kenneth Murray, otherwise simply known as Pete Murray is one of the final Friday Flash(back)'s for 2025!
Murray has had three albums reach number 1 on the Australian (ARIA) charts. Murray has received 17 ARIA nominations throughout his career so far.
He has sold over 1.2 million albums in Australia.
In early 2003, Murray signed a contract with Sony BMG and he entered the studio with producer Paul McKercher and his band (consisting of Ben McCarthy on bass guitar and keyboards, Christian Sargeant on drums, Paul Tyrell on guitar and Col McIntyre on reeds & flute) to make the Feeler album.
Feeler was released on 21 July 2003 with the title track as the first single.
Triple J radio started playing the track with the Nova FM and Triple M networks picking it up. With this support, Feeler entered the ARIA top 50 album charts in 2003. His reputation was building fast and he started selling out shows in smaller venues.
So Beautiful was released in January 2004, reaching the top ten. This spurred sales of the album driving it to number one on the Australian album charts in late March 2004 and six times platinum status. By 2008, the album had sold half-a-million copies.
Last Friday Murray released his seventh record, Longing. This is his first record since 2017's Camacho. Tomorrow return to stream the record, in the meantime, some old and new tunes are featured below.

Richard Paul Ashcroft the English musician, singer/ songwriter, formed the alternative rock band the Verve in 1990.
Following the Verve's disbandment in 1999, Ashcroft embarked on a successful solo career, releasing six UK top-three solo albums, including Alone with Everybody, Keys to the World and These People . The Verve reformed briefly in 2007 and disbanded again in 2009. That was quick! However they did just tour in the UK with Oasis, yes Oasis! Who are headed here with Ball Park Music. More on Oasis below. It explains why the Gallaghers choose them as their support act.
Ashcroft's songwriting has been commended by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors twice with an Ivor Novello Award.
The Verve's Urban Hymns is one of the UK's best-selling albums of all time.
Ashcroft's work has influenced artists such as Oasis, Coldplay, and the Britpop and indie rock genres.
Noel Gallagher of Oasis described Ashcroft as a "genius", & Chris Martin of Coldplay called him "the best singer in the world".
Tomorrow, Ashcroft will release his seventh studio album, Lovin' You.

Album of the Year Nomination #3 - Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
Following PinkPantheress and Addison Rae back in June, it's time for the third Album of the Year Nomination for 2025! The third Album of the Year Nomination also happens to be from a Central Coast dance queen.
So ahead of the long weekend, let's start dancing early!
I Love My Computer is the debut studio album by Ninajirachi.
The album was released back in August, however its been a real grower! From iPod Touch to the latest single, It's You, I Love My Computer 100% banger!
Influenced by electronic music Wilson listened to during childhood, including older Australian dance music as well as the genres of trance and complextro.
Recently came the 2025 ARIA Music Awards nominations. The album was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist, Best Dance/Electronic Release, Best Independent Release, Best Cover Art, Best Engineered Release and Best Produced Release. Scoring a total of eight nominations, Ninajirachi leads the nominations.
The first single from the record, was All I Am, followed by the semi title track, Fuck My Computer.
iPod Touch was released as the third single back in June, followed by Infohazard and lastly, It's You.
The Kincumber local is one of Australia's best dance artists. After seeing her earlier this year whip up the crowd at Laneway, she is also awesome live.
If you get a spare 40 minutes this long weekend, give I Love My Computer a listen. You won't regret it!
