(Pre) Friday Flash(back)

Tame Impala is the psychedelic music project of Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker.

In the recording studio, Parker writes, records, performs, and produces all of the project's music. As a touring act, Tame Impala consists of Parker (vocals, guitar, synthesiser), Dominic Simper (guitar, synthesiser), Jay Watson (synthesiser, vocals, guitar), Cam Avery (bass guitar, vocals, synthesiser), & Julien Barbagallo (drums, vocals).

The group has a close affiliation with fellow Australian psychedelic rock band Pond, sharing members and collaborators, including Nick Allbrook, formerly a live member of Tame Impala.

Parker originally conceived the project in Perth in 2007. After a series of singles and EPs, Tame Impala's debut studio album, Innerspeaker, was released in 2010; it was certified gold in Australia and well received by critics.

Parker's 2012 follow-up, Lonerism, was also acclaimed, reaching platinum status in Australia and receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.

Tame Impala's third album, Currents, was released in July 2015, and like its predecessor, it won ARIA Awards for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year. Parker won the APRA Award for Song of the Year 2016 for Currents' first track, Let It Happen.

The fourth studio album, The Slow Rush, was released on 14 February 2020 to further praise from music critics. At the 2020 ARIA Music Awards, Tame Impala won five awards.

Outside of album releases, in March 2023, Tame Impala released the song Wings of Time from the soundtrack of the film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Contiuing the soundtrack vibes in 2023, Tame Impala released Journey to the Real World for the film Barbie, as part of the soundtrack album.

Then in 2024, Tame Impala collaborated with Justice on the single One Night/All Night for their album Hyperdrama. Parker also appeared on another song, Neverender on the record.

Parker co-wrote and produced Dua Lipa's third studio album, Radical Optimism. He later joined Lipa onstage during her headline performance at Glastonbury 2024, performing Tame Impala's The Less I Know the Better & Lipa's Houdini.

The fifth album, Deadbeat, was last Friday.

So for the second last Friday Flash(back) for 2025, Tame Impala are a cracker! So excited for this. Take a listen to some old and new cuts from Kevin Parker. Until tomorrow!

(Pre) Friday Flash(back)

Peter Kenneth Murray, otherwise simply known as Pete Murray is one of the final Friday Flash(back)'s for 2025!

Murray has had three albums reach number 1 on the Australian (ARIA) charts. Murray has received 17 ARIA nominations throughout his career so far.

He has sold over 1.2 million albums in Australia.

In early 2003, Murray signed a contract with Sony BMG and he entered the studio with producer Paul McKercher and his band (consisting of Ben McCarthy on bass guitar and keyboards, Christian Sargeant on drums, Paul Tyrell on guitar and Col McIntyre on reeds & flute) to make the Feeler album.

Feeler was released on 21 July 2003 with the title track as the first single.

Triple J radio started playing the track with the Nova FM and Triple M networks picking it up. With this support, Feeler entered the ARIA top 50 album charts in 2003. His reputation was building fast and he started selling out shows in smaller venues.

So Beautiful was released in January 2004, reaching the top ten. This spurred sales of the album driving it to number one on the Australian album charts in late March 2004 and six times platinum status. By 2008, the album had sold half-a-million copies.

Last Friday Murray released his seventh record, Longing. This is his first record since 2017's Camacho. Tomorrow return to stream the record, in the meantime, some old and new tunes are featured below.

(Pre) Friday Flash(back)

Richard Paul Ashcroft the English musician, singer/ songwriter, formed the alternative rock band the Verve in 1990.

Following the Verve's disbandment in 1999, Ashcroft embarked on a successful solo career, releasing six UK top-three solo albums, including Alone with Everybody, Keys to the World and These People . The Verve reformed briefly in 2007 and disbanded again in 2009. That was quick! However they did just tour in the UK with Oasis, yes Oasis! Who are headed here with Ball Park Music. More on Oasis below. It explains why the Gallaghers choose them as their support act.

Ashcroft's songwriting has been commended by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors twice with an Ivor Novello Award.

The Verve's Urban Hymns is one of the UK's best-selling albums of all time.

Ashcroft's work has influenced artists such as Oasis, Coldplay, and the Britpop and indie rock genres.

Noel Gallagher of Oasis described Ashcroft as a "genius", & Chris Martin of Coldplay called him "the best singer in the world".

Tomorrow, Ashcroft will release his seventh studio album, Lovin' You.

Album of the Year Nomination #3 - Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer

Following PinkPantheress and Addison Rae back in June, it's time for the third Album of the Year Nomination for 2025! The third Album of the Year Nomination also happens to be from a Central Coast dance queen.

So ahead of the long weekend, let's start dancing early!

I Love My Computer is the debut studio album by Ninajirachi.

The album was released back in August, however its been a real grower! From iPod Touch to the latest single, It's You, I Love My Computer 100% banger!

Influenced by electronic music Wilson listened to during childhood, including older Australian dance music as well as the genres of trance and complextro.

Recently came the 2025 ARIA Music Awards nominations. The album was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist, Best Dance/Electronic Release, Best Independent Release, Best Cover Art, Best Engineered Release and Best Produced Release. Scoring a total of eight nominations, Ninajirachi leads the nominations.

The first single from the record, was All I Am, followed by the semi title track, Fuck My Computer.

iPod Touch was released as the third single back in June, followed by Infohazard  and lastly, It's You.

The Kincumber local is one of Australia's best dance artists. After seeing her earlier this year whip up the crowd at Laneway, she is also awesome live.

If you get a spare 40 minutes this long weekend, give I Love My Computer a listen. You won't regret it!
