Rüfüs Du Sol

It's been a HUGE week for Aussie music. The ARIA's went down. I got some picks right lol, AC/DC played a sold out Stadium Australia and also out at Sydney Olympic Park, Rüfüs Du Sol played three near sold out shows at neighbouring Qudos Bank Arena.

What a week for live music out at Sydney Olympic Park!

First to the ARIA's. I successfully picked AC/DC's support, Amyl and The Sniffers won the Album of the Year, with Cartoon Darkness. They also won, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Best Cover Art.

Local Central Coast dance queen, Ninajirachi continued her winning streak (post winning the 2025 Australian Music Prize), winning Best Solo Artist, Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist, & Best Independent Release for I Love My Computer. I successfully picked two of those awards too.

Now to Rüfüs Du Sol who I saw live last night.

Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt make up Rüfüs Du Sol, originally known as simply Rüfüs from their inception until January 2014, before changing their name to Rüfüs Du Sol – exclusively in the United States – to avoid confusion with existing funk band Rufus.

In May 2018, the band adopted the name change worldwide for the sake of consistency.

Their debut album Atlas peaked at number one in Australia in 2013, and their three subsequent albums have all reached either number one or number two in their home country. While their second album Bloom debuted atop the Australian albums chart in early 2016. Their single You Were Right won the ARIA Award for Best Dance Release in 2015.

As part of their 2021–2023 Surrender world tour, Rüfüs Du Sol played three sold out stadium shows at Banc of California Stadium.

In 2022, they won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for their song Alive. In 2023, they headlined Oshega Festival in Montreal, headlined Field Day in Sydney on New Year's Day in 2024, and headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2025.

It was a monster return home for the trio playing a monster venue in Sydney's west.

Rüfüs Du Sol look at home on stage, they wear all black, with black sunglasses and have an incredible light show.

The group work the room with all their favourites plus cuts from their five time nominated record, Inhale / Exhale.

Let's take a look/listen at some of the biggest tunes to date from the Sydney trio.

New (local) feature album tomorrow ahead of sliding into summer with some BIG features incoming!

Friday Flash(back)... Back in 2026

The 2025 season of the Friday Flash(back) has now concluded.

Concluding last week on Halloween with Florence +the Machine's very Halloween themed record, Everybody Scream.

The good news is the 2026 is going to come in hot! Lily Allen, Paul Dempsey have both given us incredible records, so look out for some late 2025 records, getting features in early 2026.

Can you believe it, 2026 is just around the corner.

Until then, enjoy the end of the spring racing carnival. The race that has ceased stopping the nation is now done. Halloween done. Christmas decorations now in stores. The Album of the Year announcement coming soon. Meaning, it's almost time to say goodbye to 2025.

Until then, a new feature album is incoming on Monday!
