Sunday Spotlight: Custard

Custard have been around for a fair while now. This month the Brisbane four piece related their eighth studio record, Respect All Lifeforms.

Now lead singer David Liam McCormack is a busy man. He appears on the ABC Kids animated TV series Bluey, as the voice of Bluey's dad, Bandit. This gains a whole new audience for McCormack  which hopefully flows onto his main group, Custard.

In the late 90's I was so excited by Custard's quirky pop songs. From their album 1997, We Have the Technology the group showed their fun side with the hit Music is Crap.

Loverama (the follow up to We Have the Technology) gave us radio favourites like Girls Like That (Don't Go For Guys Like Us), Hit Song and Ringo (I Feel Like). The album returned the group to their 1995 hey days when the group was riding high with the hit Apartment.

Custard were one of the bands I grew to love whilst growing to love listening to Triple J in the late 90's. Still to this day in 2020 I listen exclusively to Triple J (sometimes Double J where Custard fit a little better now, gaining this week's feature album) where I have discovered so many more amazing local talents like Custard back in the 90's.

So to kick off some 90's features I will feature here all June long, get into some Custard for your Sunday.
