Julia Jacklin used to be from Sydney, now Jacklin (like a lot of people in the arts) call Melbourne home.
Jacklin has released two studio albums, Don't Let the Kids Win (2016) and Crushing (2019) and recently Julia gave us one of my favourite recording types, a Double A side, Cry & to Perth, before the border closes.
Julia Jacklin, Elizabeth Hughes, Ryan K Brennan, and Tom Stephens also make up Phantastic Ferniture. The indie kids who gave is the awesome hit, Fuckin 'n' Rollin. As well as a self-titled album in 2018.
I am not sure why it has take till the dumpster fire year of 2020 for me to shine the spotlight on Julia Jacklin? But it is ARIA nominations week after all where Jacklin has been nominated 8 times. Whilst also winning 2 AIR Awards.
So this Sunday evening (later than usual posting time) lets jump into some classy local indie. Until next week, stay safe, stay sane and most importantly keep enjoying good, local Australian music.
