Sunday Spotlight: Kanye West

Kanye Omari West has just released his highly anticipated tenth album, Donda. Featuring a stack of guests following a series of delays for the offical release, it's time for Kanye to get the Sunday Spotlight treatment.

Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, West released his debut album, The College Dropout in 2004, to critical and commercial success. He also founded the record label GOOD Music.

We all remember the big records that followed, Late Registration in 2005, followed by Graduation in 2007 and then the more experimental 808s & Heartbreak in 2008.

Kanye's fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in 2010 and sixth album Yeezus in 2013 were two of Kanye's most critical and commercial successes.

West started going rogue The Life of Pablo in 2016 followed by Ye in  2018.

Kanye found in god, therefore explored Christian music on Jesus Is King in 2019.

Kanye also has two full-length collaborative albums under his belt. The huge Watch the Throne in 2011 with Jay-Z and Kids See Ghosts in 2018 with Kid Cudi.

Along with Kanye's music, in 2020, he ran an independent presidential campaign that advocated for a consistent life ethic. His Christian faith, as well as his marriage to television personality Kim Kardashian, have also been sources of media attention.

As a fashion designer, he has collaborated with Nike, Louis Vuitton, and A.P.C. on both clothing and footwear, and have most prominently resulted in the Yeezy collaboration with Adidas beginning in 2013.

West is one of the world's best-selling music artists, with more than 160 million records sold worldwide.

He has won a total of 22 Grammy Awards, making him one of the most awarded artists of all time.

Among his other awards are the Billboard Artist Achievement Award, a joint-record three Brit Awards for Best International Male Solo Artist and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

So why not listen to Donda now along with some classic videos below. Until next week.
