Cut Copy the synth-pop group formed in 2001 by Dan Whitford (vocals, keyboards and guitar). Originally a home-recording project, the band now includes Tim Hoey (guitars), Ben Browning (bass guitar), and Mitchell Scott (drums).
The band achieved breakthrough success in 2008 with their second album, In Ghost Colours, which included well-known singles Lights & Music & Hearts on Fire.
Last Friday the Melbourne band gave us their seventh record, Moments. Cut Copy were one of my Homebake highlights from yester-year.
Back in the festival hey day, Homebake kicked off the festival season with an all Australian (occasional NZ group, also the one random year Blondie headlined) line up. Cut Copy slayed the dance tent back in the day.
The group take 80's dance pop to new levels.
So ahead of streaming their latest record tomorrow, let's go old school to remember the wonders of Cut Copy!
