Monday Spotlight: Allday x The Veronicas

Oe day late but double the spotlight fun this week. Both acts are also about to play live in Sydney! Allday tickets are HERE at the Enmore whilst The Veronicas can be found HERE @ the Hordern.

Tomas Henry Gaynor AKA Allday has been in the game for a while now, with his debut album, Startup Cult, being released in July 2014.

Allday hails from Adelaide, South Australia, Australia's very own city of churches. He then however moved to Melbourne, to pursue a serious career before later relocating to Los Angeles, California.

Thomas states his influences include Silverchair, Frank Ocean, and TLC. His latest album (the feature last week) is a real change in direction. With help from Japanese Wallpaper and the DMA's it's a big shift in gears. It would be a real treat to see these tracks live next month.

The Veronicas are Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, who formed in 2004. The two are identical twin sisters from Brisbane.

Their debut studio album, titled The Secret Life of...,  dropped in 2005, it peaked at number two on the Australian Album Chart, selling 4× platinum copies. Thats over 280,000 copies!

In 2007, Lisa and Jessica released their second studio album, Hook Me Up. It peaked at number two in Australia while being certified 2× platinum. Thats another 140,000 copies out the door.

The album's title track, Hook Me Up, was the Veronicas' first number one single in Australia, whilst Untouched was an international top ten hit. While lately becoming a cult hit single. A must have on party playlists.

The sisters had a slightly lengthy hiatus, broken in September 2014, by releasing You Ruin Me, the first single from their self-titled third studio album. Now the duo are giving us two records this year. Godzilla and Human. Also the tour happening on a stage near you.

The sisters have branched out to reality TV in 2021 too. The duo were celebrity contestants on the fifth season of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia in 2021.

So let's celebrate two diverse Australian music icons. No Sunday Spotlight this week too due to the Queen's Birthday weekend. For now tomorrow I kick off the second EP feature week of 2021 with Jorja Smith. Until then, I feel so untouched!
