Number 31 - Eskimo Joe - Black Fingernails, Red Wine (2006) - Best Australian albums of the 80's-NOW!

We are just outside the top 30 now! Its album number 31! For a full list of 50 down to 26, click here.

Black Fingernails, Red Wine was the third studio album by WA's own Eskimo Joe.

The band recorded Black Fingernails, Red Wine on the central coast of NSW's The Grove Studios. The Grove Studios were originally known as Mangrove Studio and were formerly owned by INXS bass player Garry Gary Beers.

Released back on 10 June 2006, the album became their first number one on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart, debuting atop the chart in the week of 19 June 2006.

The album was certified 4× Platinum in Australia. It is their best selling album to date.

On 10 March 2019, an anniversary edition of the album was released as a two-disc set and saw the album's release for the first time on vinyl.

The album is noted for being heavily influenced by the production techniques and sound of early 1980s rock, with many similarities to vintage Icehouse and INXS.

I was a huge fan of Eskimo Joe, dating all the way back to Sweater. This album followed Girl and A Song is a City. The three piece have been solid since day one. The group toured relentlessly, worked extremely hard, released a number of singles whilst also getting around the festival scene.

They played Falls Festival, Big Day Out and more.

We are at the pointy end readers of this EPIC album list. Come back for more random spotlights on some truly remarkable Australian albums. See you then.
